It looks like changes might be just around the corner for the Rogers and Norton 5 a side football league. All league contacts should have received ..... an email highlighting the increasing struggle the Rogers and Norton administration team are having. In the email Paul says:
"Once again the football league has been a real struggle to co-ordinate due to various administrative issues. As a result, Graham and myself have discussed at great length the way forward for the league, and we would like your input too"
also mentioned is:
"Powerleague have shown an interest in our league and the Centre Manager Steve Nielson will be present at the meeting to answer any questions with a view to them taking over the administration whilst retaining the same name for the league"
A meeting is set for Wednesday 30th November 2005 when things will be discussed with all team contacts who attend.
Please feel free to leave your thoughts on the matter using the "post comment" (members only) button below and I'll pass them onto the Rogers and Norton team.

Our main concern having played at the powerleague in the odd match is that the games arent played in the way which the R & N league are used to:
They have referees because they need them!
Its quite a hostile atmosphere and teams can be unfriendly
Whilst we play competative games at present powerleague games could be labelled as somewhat over competative
I pressume that if the league joins the powerleague all our matches will have to be played there as opposed to our usual venues.

I have no idea what the proposal for the transfer over to the Powerleague will be until the outcome of the meeting. Our team currently likes the format of the league because its not connected to any venue, follows a flexible fixture system and allows teams to pick and choose pitch venues..... which helps in the informal but competitive feel to the league. I think teams would have moved over to the Powerleague league system if they had wanted the highly competitive nature it entails. It would be interesting to hear from those teams who have moved from the powerleague system into the R&N league.

I agree with the above comments in that most of the cos who play need their legs to walk to work !! No, on a serious note are there going to be restritions on who plays and who doesn't in the leagues. A couple of my team play at the powerleague and they comment how much more unfriendly it is and some of the tackles.

One of the main reasons why our team joined the R&N league was due to the flexible nature of fixtures, i.e. only 1 game per 3 wk period which meant that we could ensure our regular players played in the games and would not have to use 'ringers' which defeats the whole point of playing as a team. We would guess that playing under Poweleague administration may involve more regular games which would put a strain on our team being able to feld the same players every week.
Most of the games we have played in the R&N league have been played in the correct spirit, thus no need for refs being involved. Our experiences of playing at Powerleague have not been great due to the fact that most teams that play there are looking more to win a boxing match than a football one and we also don't appreciate paying the over-priced cost of about £4 per player to get a serious injury! The small enclosed pitches are also not to our liking and we enjoy playing on different pitches which adds to the overall atmosphere in playing in the R&N league.
We think that if the main problem with the current set up is the fact that games are not played on time or results are not reported, a penalty system for BOTH teams involved in the fixture should be implemented as we believe that 3 weeks is a big enough window for a game to be arranged and played in.
In summary, we would be dissappointed if the current set up for the league was changed and was handed over to the Powerleague and we would most likely not continue being involved.

The Law Courts team are happy for the Powerleague to take over. We would suggest that the games are played closer together (max of 14 days wait) and would be helpful to have fixed times and dates so teams know when their playing as some teams are difficult to contact!!!!! If we could try and play the games over the football season would be good as some players have other sporting activities over the summer period!!
We await any further information about the changes.
