Rough Justice handed out by Law Courts

BTengineering travelled the long way up to Bowthorpe for the first away fixture of the 2007 season against newly promoted Law Courts. Manager Rixxy had to call on the last minute services of retiree Pat to make up the bare minimum squad of five. Sadly the game as a competition was over for many of the engineers after about ten minutes when not only had the far better Law Courts rattled in a few goals but they had also rattled a few engineers as well, literally. With one engineer all but out of the game after tackles from behind became legal and just, the odds where stacked against BT. Pat, Rixxy and Woodsy worked hard to cover for the limping Lambert but soon the far fitter and better Law Court side increased the lead. Woodsy worked hard up front all game to hold the ball up but with the highly competitive and physical Law Court crunching into the back of his legs and with little support, always came out second best. With both ankles black and blue sadly mad dog Woodsy eventually snapped after an encounter against the boards and kicked out. I kind of think we should have stopped there. Reflecting on probably the most unsporting game the team has ever played in nearly ten seasons in the league, as a team we should have simply have walked out after the first ten minutes, let alone get to this point some three quarters of the way through. By this time Steve in goal had seen enough and simply stood watching as the Courts tapped in what were eventually 13 goals. Woodsy did hit the target for the engineers and it ended 13-1 but had we known how the game would pan out I would gladly have given the Law Courts a default 15-0 score line and not played the game. On a personal note this one kind of hit me for six as I hope it�s not a sign of the way the league is heading. Lets bring back the friendly banter and be drawn to league rule 7.
